Already, three rounds have played so far in this event. Juan Baligad leads with 3 points. In round one, Danny Quinones defeated Paco Vela and Jose Ramirez won with a mating attack with his rooks over Ryan Phillips upsets. In round two, Dan Dease destroyed Yoseph Debesai, Todd Imada whipped Paco’s French Defense. In round three last night, Scott Raymond defeated Virgil Reyes in a Spanish Game. Yoseph Debesai looked to be playing his immortal game against Paco Vela and had a half hour edge on the clock, but with 2, yes thats two seconds left, Paco mated Yoseph in one. Allen Reaves seemed to be holding Ryan Phillips, but he too got mated in short order. Durias Petersen refuted Jose Ramirez piece sacrifice to to win. Lots of visitors, especially, in round one.
