| | 2006 Nevada State Championship & North v
South Team Match
Tonopah, Nevada, October 22, 2006
For the third year in a row the Southern Nevada team managed to
hold onto the State Championship trophy, but for the third year in a row the
margin of victory got even closer! By virtue of the rule that the reigning
champs retain the trophy in the case of a tie, the North and South match
finished all square at 6-6 after 10 grueling hours in the usual setting of
Tonopah.
However, this year the South could also boast having the State
Champion as Virgil Reyes managed to beat out the Northern representative
Eleuterio Alsasua on tie breaks after drawing their main time control games.
